“Our father’s grave”

Along the side of a hill at the back of Woodhill Cemetery is a path-like formation of old gravestones, forever separated from their graves. I think of it as The Path of Lost Stones.

One of the lost stones once marked the grave of Jonathan Emans. Neither his birth date nor his death date is visible.

The Emans stone features the carving of a man standing under a willow tree. He leans casually on a gravestone (this one?), his hands clasped at his waist. The ground from which the willow grows projects outward, as does the willow, giving the carving an interesting dimension.

  2. Hi Pam--I grew up in Franklin. Took this photo (and others) on Memorial Day when I drove over from Columbus area to visit family graves. I want to schedule another trip this summer... more to see!
