Find A Grave tip for your smartphone
Are you a Find A Grave photo volunteer? Do you have a smartphone with a data plan? Me too! Here is how I make sure I always have an up-to-date list of nearby photo requests: Bookmarks.
- Open the browser on your smartphone and browse to the Contributor Tools page at findagrave.com.
- Do a 5-mile radius search for photo requests. Bookmark the results page.
- Do a 10-mile radius search. Bookmark it.
- Go big. Search and bookmark 25- and 50-mile requests for a rainy day.
Next time you are taking a Sunday drive and you pass a cemetery, take out that smartphone (it has a camera, doesn’t it?), check for photo requests, and do a good deed for a fellow family historian.
What?! You are not a photo volunteer on Find A Grave? C’mon. Join the fun.
Great idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Have done that. Now if the Droid FindGrave App would do that ... soon, I hope.
ReplyDeleteThanks again,
I have an Iphone and I will type in "cemeteries in" then what ever city I am in on the maps app and it will bring up almost all the cems in that area. It has been a valuable piece of equipment. And has made the process of finding them so much easier.
ReplyDeleteNice one, Tammi. Like having a specialized road atlas in your pocket!
ReplyDeleteThat is really nice to hear. thank you for the update and good luck.
